My Favourite Anime Challenge!

Hello guys and welcome to the first of EMiNA’s Global Challenges. Global challenges are events cooked up by committees, and are open to everyone from every guild. These events are individual-based, meaning you are ranked on how well you do on your own, not as a guild (we have guild battles for that). Aside from that, Global Challenges will also feature (aside from Guild Points) real, individual rewards in order to encourage more members to participate.

So without further ado, let me introduce out first Global Challenge, codename “My Favourite Anime”. Its simple. Explain, in not more than 1,000,000 words, what your favourite anime is, and why. It doesn’t have to be something extract, it doesn’t have to be something new. It can even be something mainstream, like Naruto or Bleach, as long as you give valid reasons to support it. We won’t penalize something just because its mainstream.

And, to clear all doubt about us being biased against something mainstream, we will offer a reward based on a very mainstream anime, BLEACH.

The top 3 winners of this even will each receive a gashapon of their choice (I’ll upload the pictures later), and the top 10 finishers will receive a pass to watch the latest BLEACH movie, the Diamond Dust Rebellion (DVD just came out a week ago) in the FOSEE Mini Theater. For those who haven’t been there before, its next to the exam hall and is VERY cinema-like. They even have the foldable chairs you see in cinemas! To top it off, you will each receive a huge number of guild points for your guild (to be uploaded later).

So guys, what are you waiting for? Get those entries coming! Send me your reply on the forums, or email it to me at holycow89 [at] gmail [dot] com. Also help to spread the word! There’s no fun in watching an anime screening without your friends’ company right? And it isn’t fun winning without contest! Get your friends to join in if possible!

The deadline for the contest is about 2 weeks from now, on the 19th of September 2008 (next Friday). The special movie screening will be held the week after that.

Entries will be judged by creativity, language, punctuation and any other extras you insert (you can, for example, send me an animated gif or, if you’re ambitious, a full-fledged WMV movie). The results will be announced on the forums and on the website.

GACC2009, Coming Soon

The Games Anime Comic Circle 2009 is confirmed with it’s target date on March 2009. It was quite obvious with the recruitment of new committees.

They’ll be more committee recruitment drive next week at CLC Concourse. Be sure not to miss out the chance to be part of the coolest organizing team in MMU Melaka. We are also interviewing hicomms within next 2 weeks!

We are proud to announce that we are going to have ‘The GACC Committee’ Open General Meeting. Open to all Multimedia University students ( yes, open to Cyberians too, IF they’re wiling to come though, lol ). Not limited to EMiNA members ^_^

You’ll get the chance to know more about everything behind the scenes of Games Anime Comic Circle before you join us. If you’re still interested to join, at the end of the meeting you’ll be given the opportunity to join us. We’ll also looking for committed ones to be part of the HiComm team.

NICE Wallpaper Challenge

Wazzup EMiNites! or was it EMiNAians?

In order to excite the art community in Melaka Campus, we introduce you the “NICE Wallpaper Challenge”.

Details

How this challenge works? Simple. Just submit a wallpaper designed by you to us. The resolution MUST BE HIGHER THAN 1280×1024. What kind of wallpaper? Anything that you can come out with. There are 2 categories:

Original Artwork

Original artwork feature artwork fully made by yourself, not ripped off from anywhere. For this, we also need original draft to ensure you really did the artworks. The artwork would mean drawing or sketches.

Recompose & Redesign

Not featuring original artwork but using some other readily made material. Yep, basically it means cut, copy, paste and redesign. Plain abstract designs falls into this category.

If you need our club’s logo. You can get it here. The logos are available in .SVG format only ( it can work with Inkscape, Illustrator and Photoshop ). Here’s the file:

Note: These logos are properties of the EMiNA Japanese Animation Club. Do not misuse the club’s logo. I’ll bite you if you do so.

Judging Criterias

Original Artwork

For original artwork, we’ll evaluate for Artwork ( the “niceness” of the artwork ), Concept ( presentation of the wallpaper ) and Awesomeness ( overall evaluation ). Extra points if the judges finds it “Epic”.

Recompose and Redesign

For R&R, we’ll evaluate for Composition ( the methods used to place in artworks or images ), Concept ( presentation of the wallpaper ) and Awesomeness ( overall evaluation ). Extra points if the judges finds it “Epic”.

Submitting

Make sure your artwork is not self watermarked. We’ll watermark it properly for you. Each member are only allowed to send in one submission per month. Each member can join both category.

After you’re done with your wallpaper, zip it ( or rar it ) and submit it to us at mail[at]3mina.net. The compiled file must contain the wallpaper ( jpg or psd ), and working proof ( any graphic file ).

Obviously, Edo is not allowed to join this. Sigh.

Rewards

All members are encouraged to join.. because we’re being GENEROUS. Very GENEROUS. Each submission for Original Artwork category will be awarded with 500GP. For R&R category, 200GP.

The winner will get 5kGP ( Original )and 2kGP ( R&R ) and of course, featured in the main site. That’s like.. A LOT of GP!

DEADline

We’ll try to have this monthly. So, for August’s challenge, the deadline is on 31st August 2008. Yep, it ends on National Day. So, no last minute works, push your creativity to the limits!
